Who’s your ‘Role Model’? I was
asked this question during my interviews as a fresher. I guess each one of us
have faced this question at some point of time in our lives.
Every time I face this question
(back then and even today) makes me think only one thing, do I have one
particular Role Model.?? And my answer is NO.
Why????
Dictionary Meaning of Role
Model: A role model is a person whose behavior, example, or
success is or can be emulated by others.
Now, in my life I wear so many
hats, like that of a daughter, sister, friend, professional, partner, student
and many more. So for all these roles that I play, how can I have one Role
Model……I can’t. Reason being I cannot have my Role Model in area of Spirituality
also as Role Model in my Professional life. They are two different people with
different ideology and completely different lives.
For instance, my mother is my
role model in the area of parenting and motherhood. My dad is my role model in
area of managing personal finance. When it comes to cooking and love for food, it’s
my mother, dad, my colleague, my hubby…these people love cooking and love food
too. So their love flows in their cooking. And I am trying to imbibe this
quality in me. When it comes to Social Media, I look up to my colleague. I am
amazed by her knowledge on the subject and her activeness on the Social Media
platform.
The point I want to highlight is that, how can one have a common
role model for all the roles that we play in our life?
But, one thing that is common in all these roles or areas of
my life is the ‘Self’. My conscious is the same. My values and attitude remains
the same. So what I am as individual will reflect in all the areas and roles in
my life. So every day I try to work on my ‘Self’, which helps to excel in every
aspect of my life. What have helped me in the same are yoga and meditation and
‘Art of Living’ (Sudarshan Kriya, Seva and Satsang). The above processes give
me peace and happiness and energy which in turn reflect in all the roles that I
play:-))
Good work. Hat's of!!!!!
